The three aspects of sustainability: ecology, social & economy
HANDL TYROL stands for transparent corporate governance and has consciously opted for sustainable development in which ecological, social and economic aspects are taken into account in equal measure.
Ecology – energy, climate, environment
For many years, HANDL TYROL has dedicated itself to the topic of sustainability and has already demonstrated vision and innovative spirit in the past by using selected raw materials and modern production processes. The constant further development of our production facilities keeps energy and water consumption as low as possible and helps to ensure that production saves resources.
Green energy
Our locations in Austria are powered by certified green energy. In the future, 100% of the power supply at our site in South Tyrol will also come from renewable energy.
E-mobility
We are constantly trying to expand our HANDL TYROL e-vehicle fleet and, therefore, continue to cut emissions.
Sustainable packaging
Our packaging experts are always working on solutions to reduce material use and make packaging more recyclable. We have already succeeded in cutting plastic usage by reducing film thickness and packaging sizes.
Further development of our production processes
We have always focused on optimising and modernising our production facilities. By using natural cooling agents and heat recovery systems, we are able to run our air conditioning and drying processes in an energy-efficient manner.
More organic products and animal welfare
By introducing organic and animal welfare products, we have been able to take another step towards a more sustainable future. Our goal is to steadily increase the amounts of these product ranges.
Healthy and sustainable snacking
Sustainable and health-conscious nutrition is important to us. That’s why we decided to expand our range with a new VEGGIE line which is 100% plant-based.

Controlled origin
Our quality meat comes from selected Austrian and German farms that are subject to the strict controls of the AMA quality seal and QS audit system. This guarantees controlled origin and transparency in our supply chain.
Commitment in the region
As a supporter of regional associations, we make a valuable contribution to the preservation of the environment and culture and support social causes with our aid fund.
We are 100% Tyrol
Our production sites are located in North and South Tyrol. Therefore, 100% of our products are made in Tyrol, which provides secure jobs in rural regions. Regular investments form the basis for our long-term location development.
Original and natural
Our Tyrolean products have very traditional origins. The entire HANDL TYROL range is produced without the addition of flavour enhancers, colourings and allergens. A clean label policy is a matter of course for us.

The association currently supports more than 400 members in achieving their ecological and social goals economically and independently.

For the SECOND TIME in a row since 2023, HANDL TYROL is the proud winner of the gold medal and with this among the top 5% companies rated by EcoVadis! EcoVadis is the leading provider of sustainability monitoring along global supply chains. The assessment methodology aims to measure the quality of a company's management system in the areas of ecology, social and economy. This gold medal underscores the importance and significance of sustainability at HANDL TYROL, along the entire value chain.

Our bacon, ham and raw sausage specialities are repeatedly awarded for their outstanding quality. Being awarded the gold DLG “Prize of the Best” confirms years of consistent high performance. The DLG “Prize of the Best” is only awarded to companies that have successfully won prizes in the annual DLG quality tests for more than 15 years. We at HANDL TYROL are particularly proud of this award since it confirms consistent product quality over many years.
State-awarded training company
This award confirms the quality of apprenticeship training and highlights its significance. In order to receive this distinction, the organisation and equipment required for the training must be in place and strict criteria must be met.
