Speck skewer spirals

Ingredients for 10 skewers

80 g HANDL TYROL Finest Bacon
1 onion
10 long wooden

Method

Preparation

  1. Soak the long wooden skewers in cold water for 1 hour so that they do not burn on the barbecue rack.
  2.   Peel and quarter the onions. Then separate into individual layers.
  3.   After soaking, add one layer of onion to each skewer and push all the way down.
  4.   Now wrap the bacon around the skewer. Spike one end of a bacon slice onto a skewer and push it down to meet the onion. Now wrap the bacon in a spiral tightly around the skewer until you reach the tip. Firmly spike the upper end of the bacon onto the end of the skewer and if necessary secure with another piece of onion.

For the barbecue:

  1.    Preheat your barbecue grill to approx. 200 to 220°C on direct heat. 
  2.   Lay the bacon skewers directly on the grill rack and grill for approximately 10 minutes. Turn 2 or 3 times during the cooking process so that the bacon cooks evenly. 
  3.   Remove from the grill as soon as the skewers are crispy on the outside.
